Why you will soon be using Linux instead of Microsoft products
Why I like KDE graphical desktop environment:
WizarDave recommends KDE
- I like the file "explorer" better
- I like the menuing system better
- GNOME perhaps is the "prettier" desktop
- KDE definitely has more functionality
Even though you may not use everything it provides
- KDE has a built in web browser, yet I prefer using Firefox.
- KDE has KOffice, yet I prefer using OpenOffice.org's offering.
- KDE has KMail, yet I prefer using Mozilla's Thunderbird
- KDE is highly configurable:
- Choose themes: windows looks, backgrounds, icons, color schemes...
- Choose preferences like single or double click to load programs...
- Choose how many "virtual" desktops
I run 6: Internet, Filesharing, email, games, work, admin
Other notes:
- Other desktops can be installed on your Linux system.
You choose which desktop to load when you log in.
- Even though some Linux programs are programmed for specific desktops
(KDE or gnome)
they work from either.
Example: You can run Kgames from the GNOME desktop
Fixing minor annoyances with KDE:
- NumLock is off by default on startup

It's all about having choices
That's one of the biggest reasons I prefer Linux over Windoze.
