How to Share Your Faith
Bible Study
Submitted by Carri (Woman of God)
This study is about how to share your faith. As we know we are all called by Jesus to share our faith and to disciple all men through the leading and power of the Holy Spirit(Matt. 16-20).
Prepare Yourself
In order to be usable by God we must be trustworthy first. What I mean by trustworthy is that you are a faithful Jesus seeking and obedient servant of our Lord. Our goal should be to really know the Lord in an intimate relationship. If the only goal we have is to be used by Jesus without first learning obedience and who He truly is then Jesus can't use us. So let us each take accountability for our walk with the Lord and start working out our salvation with fear and trembling (phil.2:12-13).
Now let's see how to share our faith:
First thing is to know the message. The message is very straight forward. Here is a guide for you if you are not sure how to say the message. Feel free to use it.
Opening the conversation
First there are two questions you can open with:
1. Have you come to the place in your life that you know for certain that, if you died today, you would go to heaven?
2. What would you say to God if he were to ask, "Why should I let you into heaven?" If they answered no to the 1st question, then you can ask "Did you know that you can be sure?
Then go into the facts:
- Heaven is a free gift. You cannot earn it, and you will never deserve it. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast."
- You are a sinner and cannot save yourself. Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." James 2:10 "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it."
- God is merciful - He loves us - but, He is just - He must punish sin. Jeremiah 31:3"I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving kindness." Ezekiel 18:4 "The soul who sins is the one who will die."
- Jesus is God in the flesh, and HE came to earth to die for our sins and save us. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:14 "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." Isaiah 53:6 "We all like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all."
- It is faith that saves us-that is, believing in Him and trusting Christ alone for salvation-nothing else. Ephesians 2:8 "For it is by grace you have been saved--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--" Acts 16:31 "They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household." It's that simple. Just put your life in His hands, follow Him every day, and watch how He will change your life!
A few pointers for you:
- Please be as POLITE as possible-no matter what.
- Keep your visit BRIEF, but don't rush.
- Please MAKE NOTES of your results and give them to the Pastor.
- Also always ask permission most people will feel invaded or feel like Jesus is being pushed on them if you don't. example of asking permission: Hello, may I have 5 minutes of your time to share something important with you?
- Another important point to witnessing is: Pray first before going out; ask the Lord to show you who to talk to; be ready for every opportunity;
