WizarDave's
1995 White Tail Deer Season
This was a memorable deer season for me
My oldest boy gets his first deer: I bought a new 30.06 and gave my old one (a sporterized WW1 gun) to David, jr. I took him to my favorite creek bluff and saw him get his first deer. Opening day, we were out before daylight. A huge coyote came along about 6:45. About 10 minutes later, a 6 pointer walked out from behind a tree. Dave made a great kneeling with no support shot. Now that he has his first out of the way, next year he can go for Mr. Trophy...
My brother Rick and I shoot 2 deer at the same time. (a button buck and doe) We were standing together. They were standing together. Bang. Bang. 2 dead deer.
I tagged 2 deer within 5 minutes: I got my 7 pointer. When I walked down to tag it a doe walked up and I filled my second bonus tag.
We tracked a deer until 1AM: I helped my cousin Bill track a buck he shot with his bow. We both had our kids with us. We tracked it about 1/2 a mile to the river. The tracks went right into the river. We figured it had crossed. We went south along the bank. The kids noticed eyes out in the river. We figured it was a raccoon. We walked toward the eyes. There was that crazy deer laying in the river with just the top of his head sticking out. It ran up the other bank. We took the kids home and picked up my cousin Toby. We tracked it to a field. We had about given up when Toby found one more drop of blood. We found it where it had jumped into a big ravine.
Cousin Bill gets his first blackpowder deer: (7 pointer). His wife Cheryl got an even bigger doe. She made a good chest shot, but it didn't bleed ANY on the ground.
Cousin Treve gets a WORLD CLASS DEER: Treve shot a 22 point non-typical deer with his new inline black powder. It was unofficially rated at 212 1/8. It is officially rated at 211 Boone & Crockett. It should be number 1 in the Missouri Record Book and in the top 10 in the nation (black powder, non-typical).

Cousin Ken's boy, Glen gets a whopper of a deer: It was a huge bodied 9
pointer. Field dressed at nearly 200 pounds. - PICTURE - Glen and his big bodied
deer.
When we're old and gray, rocking on the front porch, we'll say,
"Remember, the 1995 deer season when..."
