WizarDave Lived on Lake Arrowhead
between Holt & Lathrop, Missouri
I used to live on Lake Arrowhead. It was just off I-35 between Holt and Lathrop, MO.
It was crammed with somewhat stunted crappie, great largemouth bass fishing, and
excellent catfishing. There were 2 main lakes and several smaller ponds.
I lived on the main lake. It was a mile long and 1/4 mile wide. I could see an island
from my deck. Canadian Geese overwintered and hatched their young on that island. The
feeder creek was a prime spot. When it rained, catfishing. was great. In the spring,
crappie fishing was excellent on this little fallen tree in the creek. Catfishing was good
from my dock. I caught several up to 5#. The corner by my house had lots of stickups. It
was a hotspot for crappie, bass and bullhead. All around the lake were fallen trees and
boat docks. All were excellent places for bass.
The big lake is where I caught my biggest largemouth bass. It was 6# when I finally
weighed it after about an hour. I guess it weighed 7-8# fresh out of the water. I caught
it on a chartreuse and blue spinnerbait (my favorite lure...), next to a fallen tree, from
the bank, in the spring.
I have a lot of great memories fishing with Dave & Sandy Bell, Sandy
DeArmond, Jeff Brown, lots of people who lived there, and of course friends who came over
from work(Alfa Laval).
