Review:

The fourth and final volume in the Seasons of the Whitetail series continues to provide information essential to understanding America's favorite game animal. This volume examines the summer months, a relatively easy season in the life of the whitetail, despite their need for constant vigilance. June is the peak population month, a time when the does concentrate on nurturing offspring while the bucks are developing antlers. Summer heat restricts the deer from much moving about during the daylight hours but results in more than normal activity after nightfall. This volume replicates the format of the previous award-winning volumes, and it is illustrated with vivid color images by some outstanding wildlife photographers. Although the whitetail deer are one of this country's wildlife success stories, a lack of understanding has contributed to many deer populations that are socially as well as nutritionally out of balance. The information in this work should aid in solving these problems.
